Them good people over at Blue Tomato got us out to Berlin for the finals of this year’s Best Foot Forward contest series. After quite a fun first night with some concerts and a mini ramp jam at the hotel (no coverage from there, cause everyone had a little too much fun), the boys & girls in blue got us on a boat and took us from a nice little warm up spot to the good old ramps at Mellowpark. Friday night saw a cash for tricks event go down at Neulich am Flughafen with a specially designed obstacle by the Mud Crew. Their firecracker rail definitely brought the stokes and Tijmen Overbeek shut things down with an out of nowhere nosegrind and an incredibly confident kickflip frontside boardslide.
On Saturday things got a bit more serious at Skatehalle Berlin with the actual finals of the Best Foot Forward contest series. 26 guys and 10 girls from all over Europe had qualified throughout the last few months and each and everyone of them proved, once again, why they had gotten their tickets to Berlin. You’ve probably seen some highlights on instagram already, but you may wanna check out the full recap video down here, made by our good friends over at Flatspot, filmed & edited by Tim Koster…
As for the girls, 11 year old rail killer Liv Nelemans claimed the first place, followed by Julia Plaggenborg and Laura Zackova. As for the guys, last year’s champion Tijmen Overbeek took home the win again, followed by Max Berguin and Koffe Kroon. Massive congrats! But things didn’t end here though, cause the Mud Crew brought out another special obstacle for what would turn out to be the probably gnarliest session of the weekend. If you have not yet seen the back-to-back-to-back-to-back by Gino Körner, Beau Brunclair, Xander Schillebeeckx and Augustin Aquila, you may wanna click here. What a way to end an event… Big thanks to Blue Tomato for bringing us out and we’re looking forward to next year.
