– PARTICLES IN SPACE –
A FULL LENGTH FROM DRESDEN
Three years have passed since the last Terra Enigma video. Now, the crew from Dresden is back with a new full-length: Particles in Space. What sounds like a sci-fi spin-off is actually an urban statement. Terra E takes us on a journey through space as an interactive field of infinite possibilities. Inspired by Len Lye’s short film Free Radicals, in which black dots dance in an empty space, each clip in the video constitutes a single particle. A spatial construct is thus created – a new image of urbanity through skateboarding.
While Terra Enigma’s first video played with the motif of outer space, the focus is now on urban space. Space is not fixed – it is interpretation. Whether cosmic or urban, view creates meaning. No city is static. It lives – through those who move in and around it. You can walk a path a hundred times and always see something new – you can skate a spot a hundred times and always do something new. Particles in Space may be pretty classic of a skate video and yet, it’s also a statement on the interpretative nature of space; and it’s proof of what can be achieved with creativity and imagination.
