As you’ve probably seen all over the gram, a good chunk of the Red Bull skate team is out in Hamburg, Germany at the moment. Between some serious filming missions for their upcoming full length video, they put up yet another one of their Spot Check events, and right before it all went down at Spielbudenplatz and Magellan Terrassen, Shecks and the gang were nice enough to sit down with us for a quick Q&A. Wanna know what Yuto’s scared of (kind of, at least)? Fancy some inside scoops on the upcoming Red Bull video? Wondering who could handle an interview from out of an ice bath? Then scroll down, find the answers to all your questions, and feast your eyes on some stills from the event.

RYAN SHECKLER
Could you give us a little recap of the Hamburg trip so far? It’s been going down. Lot of tricks landed, lot of tricks tried. The vibe is high and we’re still trying to stack clips for the video. Got a few spots that we need to go back to for some unfinished business, and a lot more to try to conquer.
Off-board activities on tour? Literally just skateboarding right now. We wake up, have breakfast, we’re in the van by 10 o’clock and we’re not back until it’s dark. It’s the best. It’s 12 hour days of action, for sure. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I am always roaming, though. Even if we get to a spot that I wanna skate, I take the first 30 minutes to do kind of a perimeter check. I wanna see if there’s any other spots, so that once I get warmed up, and I get a trick, I wanna be able to use that and go to the next spot before I get back in the van. So, I’m always checking if there’s a spot next to the spot.
Any predictions for today’s event? I just hope that after today’s event people will think skateboarding’s cool, cause I think skateboarding’s cool.
If you could live the life of one of your teammates for a day, who’d you pick? Probably Cordano. I would wanna know what it feels like to be that committed for every single try. There’s no feeling it out. He is just hammer, every single try. I would also like to feel the pop, how small the skateboard must feel for him. He looks at rails that are nipple high and he’ll be like: no problem, I got that (laughs).
Whose part in the Red Bull video are you looking forward to the most? I’m looking forward to all the parts, and I’m looking forward to complete my part, but I think the world’s going to be shocked when they see Chloe’s part. I’ve been on the road with her a lot. She is skateboarding!
What’s next? After this trip, I go back home and I’ll see what’s checked off skate-wise for this video part, and attack what still needs to get done. I’m trying to go back to back on video parts, cause I am also working for a Zero part for 2027. God willing I stay healthy, and get it done.

YUTO HORIGOME
Could you give us a little recap of the Hamburg trip so far? Jetlag. Hungry. Handrails in the morning.
Off-board activities on tour? We’re basically skating all day, but I really wanna drive on the autobahn with Jamie… I’m kind of scared (laughs).
Any predictions for today’s event? We wanna see people go crazy. These things are really important for skateboarding culture and for the people. It’s gonna be sick.
If you could live the life of one of your teammates for a day, who’d you pick? Well, I don’t know. I like my life. Everyone’s a bit too crazy (laughs).
Whose part in the Red Bull video are you looking forward to the most? Obviously Jamie, and Zion. Everyone’s gnarly, though. I’m really excited to see how it’ll come together.
What’s next? We’ve been working on this Red Bull project for almost three years, and I’ll keep trying until the end to get the best stuff I can. Then obviously, there’s the Olympics coming up in Los Angeles, and next year it’s the qualifiers already. I’ll try to do my best there.

CHLOE COVELL
Could you give us a little recap of the Hamburg trip so far? It’s been super fun, and the spots are amazing. Great crew.
Have you picked up any words in German already? The only word that I know how to say is Danke. And Nein! That’s pretty much it.
Off-board activities on tour? Have we done any? (laughs) When we’re not skating, I just like to chill at the hotel, cause the days are really long. Playing pool, hanging out with everybody, just chill.
If you could live the life of one of your teammates for a day, who’d you pick? Jamie. He’s just not scared. If I was him for a day, I’d just go to the biggest rail in Hamburg and grind it (laughs).
Whose part in the Red Bull video are you looking forward to the most? The part I’m looking forward to the most… I’d say Gavin Bottger. He’s done so many amazing tricks already. He gets clips on hubbas, stairs and rails, but then he also gets amazing stuff on transition. He’s an ATV for sure.
What’s next? I’m going to the Bunt Jam in Canada, and that leads straight into a Nike trip. So, that should be pretty cool. I went to the Bunt Jam in Melbourne already. I got to play basketball there with a bunch of teams and got pretty competitive (laughs).

GAVIN BOTTGER
Could you give us a little recap of the Hamburg trip so far? Awesome spots, beautiful city, fun times.
Have you picked up any words in German already? Danke. Yesterday we also learned how to say this isn’t a bike lane, but I forgot how to say that (laughs).
If you could live the life of one of your teammates for a day, who’d you pick? Maybe Sheckler. It’d be crazy to be Sheckler for a day. He’s a superstar, and a legend.
Whose part in the Red Bull video are you looking forward to the most? I’m really excited to see Zion’s and Jamie’s parts. I’m excited to see all of it, though.
What’s next? More trips, more filming, and I got a contest in Portland coming up.

CORDANO RUSSELL
Could you give us a little recap of the Hamburg trip so far? It’s my first time street skating in Germany. The spots are big and rough (laughs). But they look so good on camera. The sound the ground makes when you roll up to a spot… and when you roll away. It’s just awesome. I got three good clips so far. Pretty stoked!
Have you picked up any words in German already? Danke. Moin. That’s it (laughs).
Any predictions for today’s event? I hope a lot of kids and families come out. I hope that everyone gets to experience the same first as me, cause they do it big. The Spot Checks always hit really well, cause you get to hang with pros and skate around your own city which is so amazing.
If you could live the life of one of your teammates for a day, who’d you pick? Jamie. He is an incredible skater, and his fear radar is almost zero. He’s got a positive outlook on every single spot. It’s so dope to see.
Whose part in the Red Bull video are you looking forward to the most? Honestly, I’m super stoked to see Chloe’s part, Zion’s part, Yuto, Jamie … just everyone. We’re truly like a team and I’m just stoked to see everyone’s footage in one big video. I’m also looking forward to all the international premiers!
What’s next? My main goal is to stay healthy. I mean, I am in a cold plunge right now. I’m doing this everyday, twice a day, three times a day. It’s the only way to keep my body in shape.

JAMIE FOY
Could you give us a little recap of the Hamburg trip so far? Handrails, bondo, crazy tricks, crazy battles, and fun times.
Have you picked up any words in German already? I’d say the only one is Nein. When we get to a spot, and someone’s speaking German to me, and I have no idea what they are saying, as soon as I hear that word, I know we gotta get out of there.
Off-board activities on tour? Nothing yet. Personally, I wanna get a nice car, hit the autobahn and top the car out. I love the highways here, they are super smooth, and it’s sick that you can go as fast as you want in certain areas where there’s unrestricted speed limits. I wanna hit top speed (laughs). Hopefully I get to put my foot all the way to the ground and it doesn’t wanna go faster (laughs).
If you could live the life of one of your teammates for a day, who’d you pick? Sheckler probably. Right now, it’d be nice, cause he’s chilling. But also, if I could change the time frame a little bit, and live Sheckler’s life fifteen years ago, just to see the craziness of skateboarding in its golden era, and being a top dog at that time, that’d be number one. I mean, Sheck’s got all the stories (laughs).
Whose part in the Red Bull video are you looking forward to the most? Hard to say. Chloe will have one of the gnarliest parts ever. She’s still so young, but she’s so good already. Then, there’s Zion of course. He’s just a power house, and I just love myself a Zion part.
What’s next? This year, we’re finishing up the Red Bull Thrasher video, and going into next year, we’ve got a Deathwish video that we’re working on. So, more filming, more trips, more good times. Job’s never finished. There’s always tricks I wanna learn, always spots I wanna skate. To me, skating is an addiction – thankfully it’s been a productive one. No stopping anytime soon!
