SPIRALEN DER

A Julia Kühne Part
Julia Kühne first popped up on our radar, when we saw her ripping in Etnies‘ Kendama video. As big fans ever since, we couldn’t be more stoked to host her very first full part – a portrait of a skateboarder who might usually be a bit shy in front of cameras, but who manages to stay unapologetically herself. Highly recommended viewing! Down below, you’ll find some more words on the project by Julia and a couple of her closest friends.
„We’ve spent a total of two and a half, almost three years filming for this part. During this time I had to battle some injuries (knees wear out over time), I’ve finished my studies and my friends and I’ve lived a lot of life. I’m usually pretty shy in front of cameras, but I still dreamt about releasing my very own full part at some point. I wanted to be able to have something to look back on in 20 years or so. Hildegard Knef’s song kept playing in my head all throughout this time and that’s where the title comes from. There’s just so much life, some wonderful years and so many memories that went into this one. Friendships got formed and got stronger and stronger. Looking back on it, now that it’s finally out, makes me feel pretty sentimental and happy at the same time.“ (Julia)

“From Barcelona to Szczecin… Jules’ part is linked to so many beautiful memories for all of us. That’s why its title is so very fitting. Behind every trick, there’s a story. I still remember how we filmed her ender in the midst of winter and how some hot coffee helped us survive. I still remember all our travels and celebrations. Watching her part almost feels like flipping through a photo album.” (Vitali)
“I went on my first skate trip to Barcelona with her. We shared a room and were laughing our asses off on the balcony until late at night, every night. Ever since then, we’re crew-fam. She’s always giving me a feeling of belonging and she’s got this sense of humour that just makes everything easier. Baba kennt das nicht… if you know, you know.” (Andréa)

“Jules will always try her tricks for real… On our first trip to Barcelona together, she tried this hardflip in some natural quarter pipe and I still remember how she stuck every single one. She doesn’t half-ass anything, you know?!” (Wadim)
“When you go filming with Jules, you never know what you’ll get. Sometimes we just have some coffee. Sometimes she’ll be all in for one specific trick. And some other times we’ll start it off with a fun little session and from out of nowhere, she’ll go for a banger, that she’ll roll away from in just a couple of tries.” (Christoph)
